More Travel Warnings Issued by Governments – Where is Safe to Go Abroad?
Both the UK and US governments have released further travel warnings, as terror threat levels continue to rise. Tourism around the world has taken a huge plunge, as more people are now frightened to go abroad. Which countries are the most recent to be deemed as dangerous? And where is safe to go on holiday? We take a look at the most recent warnings from UK and US governments.
Turkey Warnings
The UK government issued a warning at the beginning of this week, saying that public transport in Turkey may be dangerous. This comes as the terror threat around the country seems to be a growing concern. According to the UK Government website, public transport should be avoided in Istanbul where possible. In particular, the Metrobus lines.
Tunisia Still Unsafe
Practically every government around the world has deemed Tunisia as still unsafe for tourists. This comes after the terrible attack back in June. Holidaymakers are advised to keep away from Tunisia until the terrorism threat levels are reduced again. Many holiday companies have refunded or changed any booked vacations already.
Where’s Safe to Go Abroad?
The tourist industry has seen a sharp decline since the threat of terror attacks has increased. Many people are avoiding places anywhere near Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Tunisia and Egypt. However, there are still plenty of places around the globe which are safe for travellers. Let’s take a look at where the governments have issued ‘safe to travel’ notices.
Spain
Much of Spain has been completely undeterred by the terror attacks around the world. In fact, the most dangers in Spain tend to be due to alcohol related accidents. You can get apartments in Barcelona that are likely to be safer than hotels. They are also more budget-friendly. Spain is a great destination for those who wish to get away from the constant worries of terror attacks. This is one of the safest places in Europe to visit, at this present time.
Other Parts of Europe
The majority of Europe is safe to visit, although there are some areas to stay away from. There have been numerous attacks in France recently and this is a worry for their government. Along with the issues in Calais. It’s advised that people don’t travel here unless they need to. Greece is also under a lot of stress, so it’s advisable to avoid where possible. The rest of Europe is pretty much free to roam. Even the smaller, Eastern European countries have relatively minimal risk warnings.
The Caribbean
Yet another part of the world that doesn’t seem to have been too affected by any terror incidents. The Bahamas, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic are some of the safest islands to visit in the Caribbean. They’re also some of the most cost-effective if flying from the US. The only dangers here tend to be localised. Such as pickpocketing and petty crime. It’s a good idea to be vigilant about your belongings.
There have been many stories about terror threats around the world, but this doesn’t mean people should stop going on vacation. There are plenty of places that are safe to visit, around the world. If you have booked somewhere that’s deemed as a danger, then talk to your holiday provider to get the destination changed.
