As a result one of the most distinctive features of Bhutan travel is the architecture; each of the geo political regions is governed from a fortress monastery called a Dzong. The Dzongs dominate the country and are often placed in strategic locations with commanding views of the ancient trade routes and are magnificent buildings with compelling white washed walls and tiered rooftops.
Aside from archeological attractions it is a culturally rich country whose calendar teems with numerous dates for colorful festivals. Its fascinating landscapes offer incredible adventure opportunity. The valley of Paro is one of the famed adventure regions boasting of the Rinpung Dzong, the Tiger Nest Monastery and the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong mark the beginning of Bhutan’s renowned treks.
In Bumthang Bhutan’s heartland, the adventure continues with numerous mountain passes which in season are adorned in colorful wild flowers and beautiful glacial valleys which attract the black neck cranes and suitable for walking. The east side of Bhutan which is often less visited and also less populated offers incredible adventure opportunities.
