We are now offering RSS feeds on The World Reporter to all you readers. But What is RSS? This question would be arising in many of the readers. There are a number of ways and services to keep you up to date with The World Reporter. And RSS is the one of the best way to keep connected.

What is RSS?

RSS is a technology which people use to keep them up to date with their favorite website or blog. Earlier, people used to bookmark their favorite websites but there are many limitations in that.

  • It is hard to track a large number of sites
  • After a week or two, you will find out that your bookmark was lost or got mixed in a list of other bookmarks
  • You had to go again and again to the websites and check for new contents manually
  • You might miss some important posts if not checked regularly
  • Sometimes you don’t see any updates at all.

RSS has a solution for all these problems. RSS can deliver you the posts as soon as they are updated right on your desktop or on any other web applications like Google Reader or Blog Lines and many more. You can also share an RSS with your friends on Social Networking sites like Facebook, Yahoo Profile, Orkut, personalised pages like iGoogle and My Yahoo, Bookmarking Websites like Stumble upon, Digg, Newsvine and many more. Not only this! If you subscribe to an RSS via Email, you will get all the updates mailed to you as soon as something new arrives.

What do you need for reading a RSS?
As we have mentioned, above all, what you need is a reader like Google reader or Bloglines (there are many option available on Internet). You can also display the RSS feeds on your Desktop using Google reader gadget of Google Desktop. Well if you don’t want to do this, you can always share an RSS with others using Facebook and your other favourite websites. I have also included a button to do this.
