In the last year Catalonia made it to the top of the list in the Spanish regions which have experienced a positive and remarkable growth in the real state sector. The last few months have registered a less intensive dynamism regarding the residential demand – but summing up the results of the entire year, Catalonia grew a 23%, while the Spanish average growth is estimated to be around 13,9%. The capital, Barcelona, registered an increase of operations of 25,3%, followed by Lleida (21,7%), Tarragona (18,1%) and Girona (16,9%).
Results show that foreigners represent the biggest group in the real state customers in Catalonia, as they represent 15,8% of the whole sales, having increased 16% in relation to the past year. Girona is the Catalonian province in which foreigners have bought the most properties, making the 31% out of the whole set of transactions executed for this type of customer.
However, selling a home in Barcelona has lately become a profitable business for those who own luxurious properties in privileged areas of the city. Given that the main investors are Russian clients and from other countries from the Soviet Union of high income level, this is the moment to release in the market those properties located along the Catalonian seaside in which potential customers could be interested. High quality houses and flats of big dimensions situated in idyllic such as those found on Costa Maresma, on the outskirts of Barcelona, with crystal clear waters, sandy shores and a spectacular landscape. Or those properties located on Costa Brava, a 180 km long coast, surrounded by mountains and cliffs that offer a bird’s eye view over the Mediterranean sea. All of them, impregnated by the Mediterranean culture and gastronomy which Eastern European visitors hold so dear, represent the main attraction of this Catalonian coast.
Aiming to give these customers a special treatment and meaning to inspire a trustworthy service in several languages, new real estate agencies have risen to provide foreigners a more dedicated and professional assistance in finding the right apartment for sale in Barcelona. These new agencies offer the Russian customers a personalized service throughout the entire process of the sale, without any intermediaries, in the client’s own language, providing the best professionals with an extensive experience in the sector in order to assist the potential buyers in anything they might need. This is indeed a service that makes everything much easier for consumers and users from abroad who wish to acquire a property in a different country of which they do not know the language or customs. A good example of such an agency is the Real Estate Agency Damlex Realty, a successful firm that has been operating in the housing market of Catalonia for over 15 years.
So, considering these pieces of information, it is natural to affirm the real estate market keeps growing again in Spain especially in the luxurious part of the sector thanks to the consumers coming from abroad. It is therefore clear the remarkable natural appealing Barcelona has to offer, as well as the rest of Catalonian communities. This is a profiting boost for the Spanish economy, which suffered a historical recession due to the real estate bubble, that turned to be a key factor in the onset of the economic crisis back in 2008.
