After a more than a decade of partnership in the war against terrorism and partnership which existed long ago in the form of membership of CENTO and SEATO, American lawmakers have understood that their is some flaw in their policy on Pakistan. Spending billions of money on Pakistan is not resulting into any positive outcome that is in good of both US and Pakistan.

Two American lawmakers, Rohrabacher and Ackerman on Tuesday called for strengthening ties with India at the time when an American report criticized Pakistan of its effort to crack home grown terrorism.

Saying that a difficult partnership with Pakistan is better than having a hostile partner, administrative officials said that America shouldn't leave Pakistan in between. While lawmakers wanted a change in US policy on South Asia as Pakistan's double game on the war of terror is not going to bring any outcome. The lawmakers pushed US for better ties with India.

"After 10 years of hearing the same sales pitch I tend to doubt it. I doubt that our money is buying anything that's deep or durable," New York Congressman Gary Ackerman said at a hearing as quoted by the Times of India. "I doubt the leaders in the Afghan government and the Pakistani government are going to do anything except pursue their own narrow, venal self interests. I doubt the ISI will ever stop working with us during the day and going to see their not-so-secret friends in the Lashkar-e-Taiba or Jaish-e Mohammed and other terrorist groups at night."

Both the lawmakers describing US ties with India as "one shining light" compared India with Pakistan saying, Pakistan is committed to Islam whereas India is dedicated to the prosperity for their people, development, education, research and peace.

Criticizing US policy on Pakistan, the lawmakers said US should instead use its diplomatic leadership to prevent India from the Pakistan based terrorists organizations who are keen on disturbing things inside the largest democracy and one of the fastest growing democracy.

"If there is, God forbid, another Mumbai-like strike, we will not be able to say that we did our utmost to prevent it because in truth, we haven't," he warned. "The ambitions of these terrorists have only grown and a full-fledged global campaign to crush these thugs still awaits at our peril."

"As India continues to dominate their strategic threat perception, large elements of Pakistan's military remain committed to maintaining a ratio of Pakistani to Indian forces along the eastern border," the Presidential report to the Congress on Afghanistan and Pakistan said as quoted by TOI, adding, "This deprives the Pakistani COIN (counter-insurgency) fight of sufficient forces to achieve its 'clear' objectives and support the 'hold' efforts."

Some people are suggesting India to assure Pakistan that its eastern borders with India are safe and that India has no interest in attacking when Pakistan is busy in counter terrorism activity in its western border against home grown extremism which is now proving to be heavy on Pakistan itself. But the only problem in that is the Pakistan's obsession with India. A country which teaches its primary students hatred against India and names 6000 years old Indus civilization as its own civilization can not or would never want to trust India.

Today the world has stopped comparing India with Pakistan. India's growing economy, GDP, strategical interests, and other achievements in the field of creating jobs, research, marketing, the world now compares India with China.

But the only question which is rising in the mind of Indians is what kind of Partnership is Americans talking about? As it has been the habit of America to first make friends and then crush them. India should make sure that it doesn't challenge India's Non Alignment Policy.
