Not even a month had completed after a strong earthquake of 9 magnitude that hit Japan, early last month, Japan was trying to recover that today a fresh earthquake reportedly of 7.4 magnitude on Thursday, 7th April, 2011 shook northeast and eastern Japan which is the area hit by the March 11 earthquake.

Tsunami warning has been issued and the Japanese media is now alerting the people in that area to shift to some place higher in level.

Last earthquake that did much damage to the land was not even over that tsunami which was the result of strong earthquake swept everything from property to lives. When Japan tried to take some measure and bring situations under control, the blasts in nuclear reactors whose structure had got weaken due to earthquake created another havoc in the island nation that the incidence of nuclear radiation leak was put just below the incidence of 3 mile island in terms of disaster. The radioactive plumes moved eastwards and touched California in US across the Pacific (Nuclear Radiation to Touch California, West US.)

The U.S. Geological Survey in the beginning recorded the quake at 7.4 in magnitude, but later downgraded it to 7.1. The quake hit 25 miles under the water.  Officials said that the quake struck at about the same location and depth as the March 11 quake. MSNBC said that the earthquake struck off Japan's eastern coast about 60 miles from Sendai and 90 miles from Fukushima. It was about 215 miles from Tokyo, where buildings shook for about a minute.

The earthquake is considered as the part of aftershock of the 9 magnitude earthquake that hit Japan nearly a month ago. Among thousands of aftershocks already felt, this one was of the second highest magnitude. Highest was on the very same day when the main earthquake hit Japan, it was of 7.2 magnitude.
