Commonwealth Games: Corruption and Pride, a debate

on Wednesday, 29 September 2010

After seeing the pictures of the dirty toilets of commonwealth games village in Delhi this month, the feeling of pride which Indians had in their mind turned somewhat into a feeling of shame. And the only thing the media and people could blame on were  corrupted organizers, lack of inter department coordination and at some point of time people themselves and media for only covering and reporting the negative aspect of the games. Just to make our discussion easily readable we are classifying two sides as Panel I and Panel II.

[Panel I] "Why would you want to add fuel to fire!!!!!! please delete this post!!!" A person said that  on our discussion board on the shared pictures of filthy commonwealth village.

Making into the front-page and ticker of every newspaper and news channel in India, the games were defamed and termed flop and criticized internationally before even they could take off. When asked various people in India they said now they have a mixed feeling of proud and shame. But still hoping it will be a successful event.

[Panel II] "It's good to share such news[criticizing] let everyone know... where our TAX money goes!!" She further added, "I am afraid nobody has an answer for this question."

[Panel I] "our tax money is going to the right place atleast they did a good job in a very short time.. It's easy to point out some thing have you done anything to make it right????" Was a reply from the crowd

[Panel II] "Given a chance i would ! what have you done???" She retorted.
Later on the debate, we saw a perfect balance between "for" and "against" side. It's left to you which side you choose. No side is wrong, only the perception is different.

[Panel I] "i didn't add fuel to fire.... if u cant do anything then we have to shut our mouth... u can do one thing u can thank those people who have been working day and night to make it possible"

[Panel I] I know the preparations have missed some deadlines. All the college students have been working there as volunteers and my friends say they have never seen such a mess anywhere in the village."
he Further added, "Feel proud that India was able to defeat the developed nations, Canada in particular, in the bidding. After all this mess, All the major participating countries have given thumbs up to the village. You should see the picture of the commonwealth games venues here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=197144&id=200700820199. You will be really amazed that such infrastructure exists in India. India has been working since 2004 on this, and deadlines were missed due to corruption. Which is a global problem. Even in Melbourne commonwealth, players were forced to live in hotels as their village was not ready. XIX Commonwealth games is the wealthiest game and greenest as well. Many earlier commonwealth games ran out of money during preparations."

[Panel II] "It is this callous 'chalta hai' attitude / 'let us be happy with what we have' or what people proudly call 'jugaad' is the bane of India. 60% of all agricultural produce in India is wasted before it reaches consumers, India tops the list in everything from poverty, AIDS, Cancer, et al. Farmers who provide food to the whole nation die without food. But we still want to appreciate very few good things the Government does, which as a matter of fact is their job! Yes, I am a capitalist. I believe only capitalism and market oriented policies will bring change. And for that we need such attractions as games. Those are signs of a maturing economy. But that was not the intention or not even developing local talent. Many proposals were made to build national level and state level competitions aka NBA and so on. But it was ignored, less scope for large scale corruption there. Politicians won by this games bribing (or openly gifting) and using the diplomatic clout. It was not awarded on merits. It was so badly managed and the cost overshot by many multiples. It's a national shame, but few people want to celebrate it. We should mourn it so that there will be a change, there is a realisation. Unless we Indians don't accept we suck at choosing politicians, or participating in politics, India will remain a land of miseries and contradictions.

Above all everybody has their right to their opinion, if one has read the very first chapter in Civics in middle school. Nobody can ask anybody to shut their mouth. It's called Right to Speech. 'What have you done?' is an irrelevant question, rather a nonsensical defence. I voted for him to do that job. Now I will go ahead and fire him by not casting my vote. I have my job to focus. Each minute of every Citizen adds to building the nation!"

Sucking at choosing politicians, that's what people think now. I have myself heard and read on several other blogs and forums. "India is a nice country with Strong economy and military, but ugly government." Despite having a huge number of political parties, Indians are unsatisfied with options available to them for choosing a government. Some don't cast their vote and some do caste paid votes.

[Panel I] Continuing the discussion, one person said: "I have read the report showing that India bribed other commonwealth nations to win the bid. But the report also said that our main competitor Canada was not so innocent as well, they offered bribe of 70K where as India offered bribe of 100K. Nobody then talked about that report again. So I feel it may be a fake too. But I won't be surprised if it is true because I acknowledge the problem of corruption.

In 1947 English left us wiping and sucking everything from this rich land with a gift of Pakistan. We had to start from the scratch. And we are at good position now, though we are nowhere in comparison with Japan, China and Singapore which also had tough times in 1940s. But during recession, when America and other markets were down, companies were getting bankrupt and people were loosing jobs. India launched its mission to moon worth 384 crore with a GDP of 7+. It is not so easy maintaining such a big nation with various religions and ethnicity. Even America is having problems where central states and native Americans time to time comes up with a demand for independence. But American media doesn't show all that negative things. But we are trying that's a good thing. With so many evils in our societies still if we are able to make in the list of top five superpowers and top fifteen economy, I can't just imagine what will be our position if we just normalize our condition, if not excellent. I hope they will learn from commonwealth mistakes."

Public Link to the photos of completed World Class venues of the games, which media never showed to you
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=249919&id=530068553&l=e289301bbf

Difficulties and hurdles did come in the way of preparations. But India at the end has done its job completely, earning the thumbs up and praise from those who strongly blamed the organizers is a big achievement. It's one opportunity which India wouldn't like to lose to project its power to the world. Unsuccessful games will add to the long list of failed games earning a mark of failure forever.

Anti Japan Protest in China Marking Mukden anniversary

on Saturday, 18 September 2010

Several Protesters protested outside the Japanese Embassy in China marking the anniversary of Mukden or Manchuria incident September 18, 1931.

Mukden incident is among the series of incident or small engagement  of war between China and Japan happened near Shenyang (then Mukden) in Manchuria, before the Second Sino-Japan war. It was a result of blowing off a section of Railway owned by Japan's South Manchuria Railway by Chinese miscreants in Southern Manchuria, China. The Japanese Army responded by invading Manchuria blaming China for the act.

Anti Japan protest became stronger after the news of Japan Arresting Chinese fishing boat captain near disputed islands and the death of Chinese Panda in Japan when vets were trying to collect semen to impregnate his mate.

Another cause of anger among the Chinese public against Japan is the right of gas exploration in and around the disputed Island called Diaoyu in China and Senkaku in Japan located in the East China Sea. The island is though controlled by Japan since 1972 but is claimed by both Taiwan and China. The island has a rich gas field, and both the energy hungry countries wants to harness the resource by themselves.

Japan's strong ambitions raised after the end of war with Russia in 1904-05, from the islands near Russia they had their reach up to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India. The Sino-Japan war ended only after the surrender of Japan during the second world war.

Ties between Japan and China have been experiencing ups and down over the time. China considers a strong Japan in its neighbourhood as a threat. Though China surpassed Japan in economy becoming the second largest economy in the world. Japan is still more active and carries the international support slightly more than China. Japan maintains a transparency and hardly talks of war after Nuclear explosion in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japanese companies especially electronics and auto sector have a strong hold in most of the countries in the world thus popularizing and creating an impact of the Brand Japan in the world. Whereas the Made in China brand is now seen as low quality.

The protest by the angry Chinese nationalists is well encouraged by the ruling Communist Party of China, but is working to control the protest in a peaceful manner to avoid more deterioration of relations with Japan. Dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the Japanese Embassy in Beijing shouted "Down with Japan" and held signs saying "Get out of the Diaoyu Islands" but were moved away by police within an hour. They later were allowed to pass by in small groups, while the rest marched outside a police cordon. (See: Chinese hold anti-Japan protests over boat dispute)

Pakistan and Taliban, Brothers or Rivals?

on Tuesday, 14 September 2010

When US and Pakistan were busy in fighting Taliban in Afghanistan, Taliban's major leaders and militants were reorganizing and planning their strategy in Pakistan against US. Revealed by George Washington University in America, exposing the double face of Pakistan. Taliban is a strategic asset of Pakistan which helps Pakistan maintain its influence on Afghanistan as well as maintain disruptions in India. Taliban on the other side is also an economical asset of Pakistan which helps Pakistan receive various funds,  military and economic aid to destroy it. Pakistan doesn't want to break its own support, hence it has to show the world that it is doing its best in the war against terror and on the other side it has to take care that Taliban doesn't become weak. (See: Is Pakistan Playing with the World?)

Ronald E Neumann, US ambassador to Afghanistan believes that 2005 insurgency in Afghanistan was a direct product of the four years which Taliban had spent reorganizing and re-planning its strategy against US in Pakistan, they were studying the tactics used by Iraqi insurgency to counter US.

The George Washington University rejected Pakistan's claims of not being a safe-haven for terrorists. Terrorism and organisations received full support from ISI (Pakistan's intelligence agency) and sometime from the Army as well. In Mumbai attacks Pakistan's officials from ISI and Marines are still suspected.

Pakistan during the US war against terrorism expressed its concerns to US over Northern Alliance (backed by the West, Russia and India) taking over whole of the Afghanistan. Pakistan which considers Taliban as its strategic and military asset couldn't see it ending and hence tried making US realize that Al-Qaeda is major enemy of US and not the whole of the Taliban.

If Pakistan's influence in Afghanistan through Taliban gets over, there is a fear among them that India may sandwich it from both the sides. As presence of India in Afghanistan for reconstruction work is already worrying Pakistan and India maintains military bases in some of the southern former Soviet nations bordering Afghanistan, thus Pakistan backed the idea of classification of Taliban as Good Taliban and Bad Taliban. It supported the plan of America's exit from Afghanistan by setting up the government there including the members from Good Taliban.

America, which is out of idea in tackling Taliban, is making mind of withdrawing and still considers this plan under its exit strategy.

A peaceful and stable Afghanistan is supported by all, but everyone wants its influence over it. Afghanistan is important for India as it acts as a gateway to energy rich central Asia and middle east for India. Pakistan wants Afghanistan because it doesn't want any other enemy at its western borders so that it can concentrate much on its eastern border against India. Carrying a dangerous weapon of Taliban, Pakistan has proved that it can use such weapons to protect its own interest.

Flood in Pakistan worse than Indian Ocean Tsunami

on Sunday, 12 September 2010

Pakistan floods is one of the worst natural calamity of the decade. The casualties and affected people due to the flood is expected to be more than the combined total of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, 2005 Kashmir earthquake and 2010 Haiti earthquake. The condition now is that almost around one-fifth of total land area of Pakistan is submerged under the flood water. And according to UN estimation around 21 million people are either homeless or injured. $460 million worth UN aid is taking time to reach properly to the organisations in Pakistan dedicated for collecting and channelizing the aid material properly. WHO reports that the condition of country is at its worst, over 10 million people are forced to drink unhealthy water.

In this situation Pakistan should open up to accept foreign aid as well as foreign personnel interested in working for the relief. Pakistan should not be biased in accepting aids from countries. The problem is not just of relocating people but there is a risk of epidemics spreading, and Taliban regathering in the north western tribal area since the army is now busy in relief work. Looking at the condition of the citizens Pakistan shouldn't have denied India's aid, with whom it has fought four wars. India initially offered help of US$5million which Pakistan accepted after much delay due
to political reasons. Later India raised the aid to US$25million. Also, there are nearly 400 Indian doctors, who are still waiting for the Pakistan government's nod for visas to help flood victims. India has also already supplied the first consignment of 25 truck-loads of Indian potato to Pakistan. Some more than 80 countries have supplied aid material and money to the flood affected Pakistan.

Jet Streams over Canada
Heavy monsoonal winds are blamed for this calamity. Monsoon winds carry rain clouds from Arabian sea and Indian Ocean and brings them to the plains. This phenomenon happens every year from June to early October, bringing rain to dry Indian subcontinent. These clouds when strike the Himalayan range, causes heavy rainfall.

New Scientist has come up with a new theory about the floods connecting the wildfire in Russia, heatwave in Japan and unusual temperatures in US and Canada. Jet streams are fast flowing, narrow air currents found in the atmosphere. There are two kinds of jet streams polar(7KM-12KM from sea level)  and tropical (10KM-16KM from seal level) polar jet streams are present in both Northern and Southern hemisphere, but the effect on the common people is seen only in the northern hemisphere as the south polar jet stream only moves around Antarctica.

Pakistan blamed India of waging water war by allowing water from Indian and Afghanistani dams (maintained and operated by India) to flood Pakistan. Though India has denied this blame.  The Diplomat commented that "India seems to be aloof and blind to the tragedy affecting Pakistan" with the Indian media "barely giving the disaster" any coverage, while "the international community and aid agencies pump aid to those affected." Later NDTV (New Delhi Television Limited) claimed that the flood coverage was limited because Pakistan had not approved visas to Indian media people for visiting Pakistan to cover the floods.

Koran burning and chaos generated

on Friday, 10 September 2010

The move of burning copies of Koran by a US pastor caused an International outraged. Not only to the world of Islam but also to everyone who possesses a little bit of humanity. Mr. Jones who is the pastor of a Florida church, had named Saturday (9/11) Koran burning Day. The day is being observed by him to express anger against Islam as he believes they were responsible for the attack on America on 9/11. Forgetting that those terrorists were only few compared to the other innocent Muslims who follow Islam which is the second largest religion in the world. He is further against the setting up of an Islamic cultural centre near Ground Zero, New York.

If such a movement is carried out it will hurt the sentiments of the Muslims around the world. Protesting anger against Al Qaeda or Taliban would have been more logical. But by doing this they are giving a good opportunity to such Islamic groups to recruit more young religious chauvinists willing to do anything for the religion. It was American fault of introducing terrorism of international level in Islamic world, and therefore a good understanding is needed to understand the real situation.

Rev. Terry Jones at the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Fla., Monday, Aug. 30, 2010. Jones plans to burn copies of the Quran on church grounds to mark the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States that provoked the Afghan war. (AP Photo/John Raoux)
US President Barack Obama has warned that this plan to burn copies of the Koran on the anniversary of 9/11 could turn into a "recruitment bonanza" for al-Qaeda, causing more trouble to the struggling army in Afghanistan.

The situation can be worse than this. The involvement of the Christian Pastor as leader in this act will cause a general hatred among Muslim for Christians. And this religious war may spread from America to the rest of the Christian world.

The clashing dates of Islamic festival Eid and 9/11 attacks has caused The US state department warn US citizens of an increased risk of attack, while international police organisation Interpol also issued a warning of the risk of violent response. US Muslims are also advised to keep celebrations low key and private as quoted by the BBC.
The war against terror can only be successful if the term religion is taken out of it. The way people around the world blended these two terms (Religion and Terrorism) they didn't do anything better but made the situation more complex. You could win the war if they were just a group of few people, but now the Taliban is not a group but a concept. Various Talibani leaders use this religion to recruit blind people in their Army. You kill them and a new batch will be ready not necessarily in the same region but may be in some other part of the world.

In this condition there is a need of thinking intelligently, situation can be tackled if the world starts caring for these troubled people. Helping the governments of these countries by providing proper funds and assistance to increase literacy, education, general awareness among the people, This can protect the people falling into the trap of terrorist groups. This is a modern world, where people believe in Science. Now fighting on a thing which happened 2000 years back is not expected from the educated people.

9 Steps to Counter China; Can India face the dragon?

on Sunday, 5 September 2010

Chinese Dragon The World Untold

Once again the tensed environment has been created on this region of South Asia, where India and China are fighting war of words

Chinese irrelevant strong claims on India's northeastern most province of Arunachal Pradesh & a part of Kashmir, objecting the separate visits of Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and Dalai Lama, frequent deep intrusion in the Indian territory, Sailing in the Indian Ocean near Indian territory, Supporting Pakistan, its Army and helping build them infrastructure in the disputed Indian Kashmir. Pushing opium and fake money in the Indian market, has made India to take the dialogue process seriously with China. (See: China's Yin-Yang Behaviour) India's deployment of 200 Su 30MKI in the Arunachal Pradesh was an answer but we don't want any military action.

Chinese claims on Arunachal Pradesh is totally baseless as they have neither ruled nor they ever have any communication with this part in the complete history. China claims this part belongs to Tibet which it has been controlling now, but Dalai Lama has recently mentioned clearly that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India.

Daily something new we get to hear on this topic in media, but still the government of India is maintaining a soft approach towards China probably due to it doesn't want to risk the billion dollar worth bilateral trade.

What ever is happening with India, India seems to be not affected by continuous bullying by China, but can India do something to control it? China has surrounded India from all the sides (Read: Chinese String of Pearls Theory) If India won't act, China will take India soft and will either include it in its own influence and try maintain its monopoly in the region or it will crush India. If India has to do something it should have a strong economy first, strong international relations second, and good military third. Then only India can keep its stand otherwise messing with China will be like inviting punishment for India.

Steps to counter China:

1. Recognise Taiwan: India enjoys very good relations as well as trade relations with Taiwan, China claims Taiwan as its territory and Taiwanese hates China for this reason, people of Taiwan like India and believe India has the potential to do something on international forum about China and Taiwan issue in the future. India still not officially recognises Taiwan, recognising Taiwan will be a very aggressive move and can be dangerous too. So we can keep this card handy for future use.

2. Maintain Nepal: India has been pouring billions to help Nepal build infrastructure, India should also think of maintaining the relationship with Nepal specially after the formation of new government which is pro Chinese.

3. Recognition of Tibet: Again it will be a very aggressive move. Tibet was an independent country before 1951 which was later forcibly annexed by China. If China doesn't recognise Kashmir as India's part, then India has good reasons to not to recognise Tibet as China. For past four decades India has been providing shelter and market to Tibetan refugees. If China can't take care of these innocent people who are fleeing to India everyday, then China on no grounds can call Tibet as China.

4. Good relations with Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Afghanistan: It is important to maintain good relations with all of the neighbours for India. Although Many of them have already fell into China's influence, it is still not too late. If India makes excellent relations with them as well, these countries will ensure that China won't use them against India. Further India should be quick to grab tenders, deals and development projects in these countries.

5. Card of Mongolia: This card can only be played when India and China will stand on the same status. Good relation with Mongolia will be necessary to setup bases and camps on the northern border of China to pressurise it from both the sides. India already enjoys good relations with Mongolia, but a little more effort is required to convert this relation into strategic.

6. Card of Central Asia: Energy rich Central Asia is needed for the growth of the country, China has already sealed many deals with these countries, India shouldn't be late to grab few deals as well.

7. Card of Japan: China and Japan relations had always been bitter. India may like to use this card when it will be strong enough to prevent any aggressive move by China. That is, having a good trade with Japan will be in India's interest. In this case, either China will force India to close ties with Japan or will start a dialogue with India to sort out the issues which is in India's interest.

8. Russia: Soviet Union always preferred India over China, but it had to maintain good relations with its communist neighbour as well. That's why Russia couldn't do much during Indo-China war in 1962. Now that such condition doesn't exist a strong Russia is needed to solve the issues if war breaks out between India and China, as Russia maintains relations with both.

9. Finally good relations with Pakistan: This one is unlikely to happen in near future. China has been developing infrastructure in Pakistan, training their army and providing them weapons and technology just to make Pakistan equal to India so that it can keep India and Pakistan busy and allow them not to grow. China and Pakistan are friends because both consider India as enemy. If India makes good relations with Pakistan. China will not find Pakistan of much use.

India and Russia ready to land on the moon again

on Saturday, 4 September 2010

India and Russia are very near to launch the joint moon mission led by India Chandrayaan 2 (Moon Craft). Result of the agreement signed between Indian and Russian space agencies on November 12, 2007 and approved by the Government of Indian on 18th September, 2008, It is is the second Indian unmanned mission and has a projected cost of Indian rupee425 crore (US$ 90million) compared to last mission's Indian rupee384 crore. Proposed to be launched in 2013 by India's indigenous GSLV MK-III (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) will carry a payload of 2650KG including an orbiter, lander and rover.

Sole responsibility of the orbiter is on India which consists of  five payloads of which three are new and rest two are the improved versions of the previous mission. The sole responsibility of the lander and orbiter is on Russia which will make soft landing on the earth's surface unlike the Indian MIP (Moon Impact Probe) of previous mission, it was made to crash land on the surface, which initially detected the water on the moon and was then confirmed by NASA's M3. The wheeled rover powered by solar energy will collect sand and rock samples on the moon surface for on-site chemical analysis.

Apart from five payloads for orbiter, India is sending another two scientific payloads for the rover to carry out elemental analysis of the lunar surface near the landing site. Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft weighs about 2,650 kg at lift-off of which the orbiter weight is about 1,400 kg and lander weight is about 1,250 kg. Development of the subsystems of the orbiter and the rover is in progress at ISRO centres in Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram and Ahmedabad. (Source: ISRO official website)

List of payloads for Chandrayan 2:

The five recommended payloads of Chandrayaan-2 orbiter are as follows:
  • Large Area Soft X-ray Spectrometer (CLASS) from ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), Bangalore and Solar X-ray Monitor (XSM) from Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad for mapping the major elements present on the lunar surface.
  • L and S band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) from Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad for probing the first few tens of meters of the lunar surface for the presence of different constituents including water ice. SAR is expected to provide further evidence confirming the presence of water ice below the shadowed regions of the moon.
  • Imaging IR Spectrometer (IIRS) from SAC, Ahmedabad for the mapping of lunar surface over a wide wavelength range for the study of minerals, water molecules and hydroxyl present.
  • Neutral Mass Spectrometer (ChACE2) from Space Physics Laboratory (SPL), Thiruvananthapuram to carry out a detailed study of the lunar exosphere.
  • Terrain Mapping Camera2 (TMC2) from SAC, Ahmedabad for preparing a three-dimensional map essential for studying the lunar mineralogy and geology.
The two scientific payloads on Chandrayaan-2 rover are:
  • Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscope (LIBS) from Laboratory for Electro Optic Systems (LEOS), Bangalore
  • Alpha Particle Induced X ray Spectroscope (APIXS) from PRL, Ahmedabad.
It is wrongly believed that Chaandrayaan 2 is the mission to complete the work left by Chandrayaan 1 Since it had lost communication signal with the ground. The mission was approved even before the launching of the first. Almost 97% of the work was completed by the mission 1 which had given enough information to start the mission 2. As the first mission made one of the largest discovery in the space of finding water in the moon, much is expected from this mission as well.

Nuclear Energy is not a New Clear Resource

on Thursday, 2 September 2010

In the recent times more and more developing countries are moving towards the nuclear energy so-called clean fuel of the 21st century. India, Iran and later Pakistan is stressing upon this nuclear resource (we are not talking about nuclear warheads here). When the first combustion engine was mounted in a vehicle, it had a charm of horseless ride. The world was so excited to see that happen. Industries, motor vehicle, printing press, etc. progressed human growth, at that time no one had ever thought that we will be facing such a big problem of global warming later. No doubt nuclear energy promises a solution to the current energy crisis and reduction in global carbon level in the future, but we refuse to see the ill effects of nuclear energy and leaked radiations which can be even more disastrous to the life.

A study by J. P. Descy and C. Mouvet titled "Impact of the Tihange nuclear power plant on the periphyton and the phytoplankton of the Meuse River (Belgium)" said that Phytoplankton and periphyton were affected during low water flow. In the reach downstream of the plant, the maximum observed temperature increase is 4.2 °C and the maximum decrease in dissolved oxygen is 15%. Phytoplankton are responsible for half of the photosynthesis activity on the earth. Hence, phytoplankton are responsible for much of the oxygen present in the Earth's atmosphere. And so most of the nuclear reactors which are situated on the coasts are contributing to the depletion of oxygen. We cannot afford to lose oxygen in a bid to reduce carbon emission.

After three mile Island and Chernobyl incident, it is hard to believe that the people of developing countries are so confident and keep faith in this resource. As Helen Caldicott, co founder of Physicians for Social Responsibilty said in her article 'Nuclear is not the answer': Nuclear reactor routinely emit noble or inert gases which are fat soluble and can get inhaled by anyone living near a nuclear reactor. Not only this, but nuclear radiation have capacity to give our tissues an irreparable damage. The radiation effect is not only near the reactors, but can also be seen in then uranium mines. Once the nuclear energy is harnessed, the safe disposal of its waste is another serious problem, no country has been able to come out with a perfect solution until now. Wherever you dispose it, there remains a risk of contamination of the soil, water, vegetation, etc.

Developed countries who have played enough with this technology are now trying to stay away after watching some disastrous incidences. the UK, US, Japan and France have shut down their breeders and now selling their spent fuel waste to the developing country like India for its reprocessing, which is a very risky task for both the environment and life of the people, it also involves a risk of terrorists stealing the fuel for destruction purposes. These countries bring their ships fully loaded with toxins and leave it on the Indian shore for the local authorities to dismantle and dispose, in this case even if any accident occur, the damage will be done only to the Indian waters and coast.

Nuclear reactors are also favourite target of terrorists as they just have to do a little mischief and rest is taken care of by the uncontrolled radiations. Which gives slow and painful deaths. Iran, Pakistan and India all are infested with terrorism.

Dr. Mae-Wan Ho, in his presentation at Institute of Science in Society, London: http://www.i-sis.org.uk/PTTP100PCR.php: talked about the potency of renewable resources in the future. If followed and spent money on that instead of in nuclear technology, we can build much greener and safer world.

Indian Government tough on Telecom Firms

on Wednesday, 1 September 2010

TQ6886 : Telecom’s Tower at Westley Heights. by Glyn BakerRecently my Internet service was suspended by the company as they were asking me for more proper documents of identity proof. And just today my mobile operator Airtel messaged me to fill the missing information in my application for the number which I purchased 3 years back. As per the government audit agency.

And now India has toughened its scrutiny of telecoms firms with a directive demanding "access to everything". said BBC Such an action might be due to the fer of terrorism as almost in all such attacks terrorists were found with 4 to 5 Indian local SIM. It was question of worry, and exposed a big loop hole in government policy and security. These steps are also a result of the ICT Act of 2000 which was revised in 2008. This is about interpreting that act and offering guidance to companies. It is one thing to have a law, but companies don't know how to configure their systems and these are more specific rules. as said by Carsten Casper, a research director at analyst firm Gartner.

It started with Government asking for the RIM to give security services access to Blackberry's email service. And now the government is also likely to target VPN, virtual private networks, which give secure access to company networks for employees working away from their offices.

Similarly Skype is also under the scanner, Blackberry has been given an ultimatum of 60 days to come up with a solution as blackberry says that it has no master key to break in its highly encrypted mail service. Blackberry and Nokia which also provides encrypted push mail service are locating their servers in India.
