Indo-Russian stealth fighter performed its first flight

on Saturday, 30 January 2010

On Friday, 29th Jan, 2010, Sukhoi's T-50 prototype of joint Indo-Russian 5th generation combat aircraft (PAK-FA/HAL FGFA) project performed its first flight over the sky of Komsomolsk-on-Amur for a time-frame of 47 minutes. It is a direct response by Russia to the American F-22 and British/American F-35.

Sergei Bogdan, who was the pilot of the aircraft tagged the plane with "easy" and "comfortable" comments. The success of the test flight of this aircraft has been a significant achievement for both emerging superpower, India and re-emerging super power, Russia who are jointly working on this project. T-50 is more of Russian version of PAK-FA. Once fully developed it will replace the planes of Soviet era including Mig 29, Su-27. It is believed the plane will be introduced in the year of 2013 and will give the air dominance to both Russian and Indian air force.

This 5th gen aircraft cannot be detected in the air, it can enter deep into hostile environment and neutralize it. The only current way to detect it is by eyes when it is in visual range but until that time it would be too late.

The Indian involvement in the project is an example of true age old friendship which turned from buyer-seller relationship to the joint production relationship. The plane is supposed to push Russia and India into elite club of possessing 5th gen aircraft.

Osama bin Laden talks climate change, slams U.S

on

Bin Laden, in the message aired on Al-Jazeera television, possibly timed to coincide with the World Economic Forum in Davos, said "U.S and all big industrial nations, are responsible for the crisis of global warming." And urged a dollar boycott over US slavery.

The broadcast came less than a week after bin Laden in another audio message praised a Nigerian national Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab who allegedly tried to detonate explosives on a US plane approaching Detroit on Christmas Day as a "hero".

"Discussing climate change is not an intellectual luxury, but a reality," he said in the audio recording whose authenticity could not be immediately verified.

"This is a message to the whole world about those who are causing climate change, whether deliberately or not, and what we should do about that."

The al-Qaida chief condemned the administration of former US president George W Bush for refusing to sign the Kyoto protocol on cutting carbon emissions. "Bush... and the Congress before him, rejected this agreement, only to satisfy the big companies," he said.

"We should stop using the dollar and get rid of it... I know that there would be huge repercussions for that, but this would be the only way to free humankind from slavery... to America and its companies," he said. "Whatever the repercussions of such decision would be, staying in slavery to them would have bigger and more dangerous results."

In a translation provided by the US-based SITE Intelligence Group, bin Laden compared the US economy to a bicycle wheel.

"If it loses a link in its chain, it stops running... If the peoples of the world stop consuming American products, this link will become more vulnerable, and this leads to the reduction of harmful gases," he said.

More nuclear deals on India's way

on Sunday, 24 January 2010

Recently on November 28th, 2009 India and Canada reached a landmark agreement on civil nuclear cooperation. Canada, the world’s largest producer of Uranium will provide India, Uranium, crucial atomic technology and equipments.

Canada is the eighth country to sign such pact with India after the Nuclear Supplier Group lifted off the 34 year old ban on India to join the global nuclear trade.

On the other hand after Russia, France has become the second nation to fully operationalise the inter-country nuclear agreement with India.Britain has also expressed its interest on signing such pact with India in the year 2010.

The energy hungry India will get fuel supply and technology so that it can continue its development process during the energy crisis. As the international community looks at India as a counter to China. India is getting a full international support due to 100% transparency, democracy, and a long peaceful record. Russian nuclear deal also allows India to conduct nuclear weapon testing for its military unlike the historical Indo-U.S. nuclear deal. Russian president Medvedev said Russia won’t change its one time decision and won’t tolerate the international pressure on India to cease its nuclear program.

India may sign the similar deal with Uranium-rich Australia, but the relations otherwise these days are not as they should be due to attack on Indian students community.

In an another deal India and Kazakhstan agreed on the export of Uranium from the second largest producer of uranium to India. Other deals signed included an extradition treaty and an agreement for cooperation on space research programmes of the two countries. Thus Kazakhstan became the 4th country to sign such pact with India.

Historical Nuclear deal between India and Russia

on Monday, 11 January 2010

After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the liberalisation of Indian economy the Indo-Russian defence ties has evolved from buyer-seller to a broadbased partnership. India agreed to launch and partnership in few of Russian version of GPS navigation satellites. India and Russia are soong oign to come up with their joint 5th generation fighter aircraft (See: Russia to rule the sky once again). Disappointed with US, India has chosen Russia this time to work with for its second moon mission and both the nations will send its moon rovers.

In a recent historical moment India and Russia has signed a nuclear deal which gives India more flexibility over famous  Indo-U.S nuclear deal. This will ensure free transfer of crucial technology and uninterrupted nuclear fuel supply for Indian nuclear reactors. Fuel supply is very important for India as India doesnt have appreciable amount of Uranium and the NSG (nuclear Supplier Group) was not properly opening up to supply fuel to India. Under this nuclear deal Russia will not discontinue the cooperation even if India conducts nuclear tests unlike the Indo-U.S nuclear deal.
On this Pakistan has given a tough reaction as it fears of power imbalance in South Asia. Pakistan also recently signed a local nuclear deal with China which also gives it some of the similar facilities but doesn't recognizes it as a nuclear nation. India warned Pakistan for misusing of American and European Union's economic and military aid against India. Pakistan's nuclear arsenal has increased sizeablily with a great pace, the world is unclear how the country which is not able to feed, educate and save its own citizens from terrorism is able to develop nuclear weapons so fast?

Russia has agreed to help India build four more new nuclear reactors around the country.

India and Russia has also extended their long term military partnership till 2020, and protocol for joint development and production of military equipment like multi role transport aircraft for both the armies.
